We were booked from 11.10 to 15.10, and had paid 70 euros to arrive two hours before the agreed entry time. The code was meant to arrive at 15:00, but didn't come until 15:10, while we were waiting outside. That delay was minor compared with what we found inside. The apartment was in a basement, something the platform listing hadn't clearly disclosed. That's important information that could have changed our decision to book. There was an unbearable, unidentified smell as soon as we entered, and the air felt heavy and suffocating from damp. A dehumidifier was already running, which made it seem the landlord knew about the moisture problem but hadn't told us. We also found mold and damp in the fridge, and human hair on the toilet seat. The conditions were so bad we left after 10-15 minutes. We tried reaching the owner by phone, WhatsApp, and Booking messages, but at first got no answer. When we finally reached him on WhatsApp, he hung up, saying he didn't speak English. The apartment did not match the photos or description on the platforms and was completely unsuitable to live in, let alone spend the night. We contacted Booking customer service, explained what happened, and were told they would contact the owner about a refund. We found somewhere else, hoping the refund would make up for this awful start to our holiday. The owner refused to return the money even though we had left immediately because of the inhumane conditions. I attached pictures showing the actual state of the property.
