Pinewood Hotel Rome

The little one in the photo was in my room. I figured he was happy there and had come to visit me. I don’t think insects hurt us, they just want a home too. I had a good stay and can’t complain. Thanks very much, and the location was great.

What stood out most was how helpful the staff were. They suggested food when nearly everything was closed, arranged a shuttle to the port Civitavecchia at 1 AM after our other option fell through, and made us tea and capuccino after the kitchen had shut. The dining staff were accommodating, and the FREE breakfast had lots of options. My parents and I stayed for 3 days in mid-October and enjoyed it. It’s an older, charming building, and the triple room was snug but spacious enough, with my parents on one side, me on the other, and the bathroom between us. Public transit is nearby, as are a local market and a lovely park across the street. We had a rental car and parked for free throughout the stay, then took transit to local sights. Staff explained how to get to attractions, and the hotel isn’t far from the highway. My only gripe is that the price could’ve been a little more reasonable for a hotel without a brand name. I don’t understand the negative reviews.

The hotel itself is stunning and not far from Vatican city. But the restaurant food was stone cold, and the night staff, a group of older gentlemen, behaved terribly toward guests. They spoke among themselves in Italian, then laughed directly at you when you asked for something. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The rooms could use a refresh, even replacing the carpet would help, and breakfast coffee from the machine wasn’t great. The hotel is on a very busy thoroughfare. On the plus side, the train station is a 10 minute walk away, breakfast is well appointed, the staff and lobby are nice, the bathroom is big, there’s a pleasant seating area out front, and the price is reasonable.
