With just 14 rooms, this hotel has a lot of staff for the number of guests, and they were all so friendly and helpful. We admired a boxed cocktail set and said we wanted to buy some as gifts, but couldn’t find any in Rome. The staff found a few in storage and gave them to us. There isn’t a big lobby on the ground floor. Instead, there’s a lovely rooftop bar and lounge, so it feels more like arriving at your own pied-a-terre than a hotel. It’s two blocks from the Spanish Steps, surrounded by luxury boutiques, and very central. That might be a bit too central for some people. We stayed in February, and I can imagine the area gets hectic in July and August, though the hotel seems protected from the bustle once you’re inside. It’s a trade-off. If you’re after a central spot with attentive service and a boutique pied-a-terre feel instead of a traditional high-end hotel, this works really well.

Florentina and the staff were wonderful, so friendly and the service was excellent. The food and terrace were great too. Our room was full of character and had everything we needed, plus more. We could easily walk to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and other places.

The concierge team made everything easy during our stay at Portrait Roma. The rooms were crisp and beautiful, the hotel was spotless, and the attention to detail and service were exceptional. Rome is lovely, but staying here made the whole trip feel that much better. I highly recommend it.

I chose Portrait Roma for my 40th birthday trip to Italy, and couldn't have been happier with the stay. The team went above and beyond, from a complimentary room upgrade to birthday attention and several lovely gifts. I’d already had a great, truly 10/10 experience at Portrait Milano in Milan, my first stay with Lugarno Collection Hotels, but Portrait Roma somehow topped it for service and care from everyone. Getting above 10/10 sounds impossible, but they managed it. Thank you, Mr. Gianluca, and everyone who made our vacation so special.

The people at Portrait Roma are what keep bringing me back to Rome year after year. Simone helped us get one of the most sought-after tables at La Pergola, which made a special trip unforgettable, and Sara took care of so many details during our stay. Her thoughtful help made everything feel effortless. It feels like a second home in the Eternal City. The hotel is small and intimate, and having a fully equipped kitchenette makes longer stays especially comfortable. That easy, familiar feeling is hard to find in a traditional luxury hotel. You feel welcomed, recognized, and cared for.
