The host was pleasant, and the apartment was clean and centrally located. But the main bedroom has no window, and the apartment is cold and damp. The bathroom is so cold and humid that the towels never dry. There's a hole in the wall beside the bath, with only a thin wooden kind of cover separating it from the backyard, so it's very cold. It's sad to say, but I've never slept in such poor conditions.

The apartment's location is excellent, and the good price seems reasonable compared with nearby options. Not having windows facing the street also cuts down on outside noise. Inside, though, the rooms are outdated and need some care and refurbishment. The soundproofing makes no sense to me. You can hear neighbors talking or sneezing, and the doors are so thin that you hear everyone coming and going in the hallway, almost as if they're in the same room.

The room was nowhere near clean enough, to say the least. Still, the location is perfect for getting around Rome's best-known sights on foot.
