Princeps Boutique Hotel

We had an early Vatican City tour, so I asked for a breakfast pack since breakfast starts at 7.30am. The buffet had plenty of good food and was delicious. Our room was small but clean, and the receptionist and team were very friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic, close to Roma Termini and within walking distance of the Colosseum and other places. The hotel seems to occupy just one level of a renovated historic building, I think, so finding the street entrance may be tricky.

We came back for our second stay, and the staff were friendly and the rooms nice. Breakfast is very good, and we look out over a piazza and the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, which is a must see. It's near central Rome but far enough away that it doesn't feel like a tourist theme park.

The staff were the real highlight. Cristiana & Lea from the desk helped us get 100 euros refunded after a taxi driver overcharged us "by mistake." They called the taxi company and sorted it out. I'd suggest asking the hotel desk to call a reliable driver they know instead of using the taxi stand a short distance away. We loved our corner junior suite at Princeps Boutique Hotel. It had two windows facing Piazza dell'Esquilino, and we watched swallows above the rooftops each morning. The room was beautiful, with a lovely washroom and shower. Breakfast was a generous buffet with lots of choices, and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby, close to Santa Maria Maggiore.

The breakfast had plenty of variety and worked perfectly for my vegetarian diet. The neighborhood was very quiet, so we could relax, and the cleanliness was clearly kept under careful watch. We appreciated the bottled water on arrival and the in-room kettle for making tea or coffee whenever we liked. There was also a hallway coffee machine and a station to refill still or sparkling water, a thoughtful touch. We reserved two rooms for the same price, though one was larger and smelled fresher and more pleasant than the other. Even with that difference, we had a very positive stay and felt comfortable.
