Before we arrived, I was sent a video showing the same setup as the booking page. It mentioned that the kitchen wasn’t for cooking, but by then it was too late for me to change plans or raise the issue. I was traveling with a 2yo kid to visit friends. The listing makes this sound like a flat with a kitchen, bathroom and breakfast. In reality, it’s a shared flat on the 7 floor. I thought being up there would mean quiet, but the street noise was infernal. There’s also a bathroom outside the room, locked with a key you only get on arrival. A constant, irritating suction valve noise from that bathroom can be heard from the bed. There was a lot of mold in the bath as well. Breakfast wasn’t really breakfast, just some jam and small supermarket croissants. The intention was okay, but the booking information gave a misleading impression of a proper breakfast. I told the owner about the noise and other problems, including radiators that are still cold, and said I wish I’d known it was a shared flat. That setup doesn’t work for us as a family with a small baby. I’d already said that sleep was our top priority. He replied that I was intentionally looking for problems with the room. Really? With a baby, I’m not wandering around Rome looking for rooms because I’m bored and want to lose money. He made me feel like a liar, when the property is so misleading. For the price, plenty of people may find it great for Rome. For our family, though, it was a wasted night, money and peace of mind. I have audio files of the noise just for my own record.
