Relais Monti

I liked the comfortable bed, and the room and bathroom were spacious. The little terrace was a nice touch, and the hotel is in a handy spot, a short walk from the colosseum. My partner didn’t sleep well because there was only one flat pillow and the bed wasn’t comfortable for him. The toilet kept running noisily, and the heated towel rack wouldn’t turn off, so the bathroom stayed quite hot. Still a good stay, and I’d recommend the hotel.

The room was comfortable and the hotel is in a good location, but there was black mould on the shower tiles and lower shower head. It made me question how thoroughly the rooms are cleaned.

We spent 7 nights at Relais Monti and really enjoyed the stay. It’s a comfortable, convenient base for exploring Rome. The neighborhood felt safe and very local, with restaurants, shops, groceries, and a laundry shop on the same street. We dropped clothes off and picked them up just a few hours later. Two excellent gelato places and a metro stop are within a 3-minute walk, the Colosseum is 15 minutes away, and Termini station is close by. The rooftop terrace is a lovely bonus, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The older building has a very slow elevator, but the rooms are modern, clean, and well equipped. We wished there was a coffee machine, though the kettle, instant coffee, tea, and hot chocolate were fine. Bottled water was provided the first night. The sink couldn’t be filled, so we couldn’t do laundry in the room.

It’s a convenient, clean place to stay, and could be worth it if you find a good deal. We expected a 4 Star hotel from the Agoda listing, but it’s more like a 2 star. The rooms are sparse and there’s no proper lobby. Check-in and check-out were efficient, the rooms were clean, and the Monti district is charming and very well located. It could be a good fit if you’re travelling solo or as a couple and want a cheap, clean place. We had a few problems during our stay. The walls are paper thin, and the building echoes every word and footstep. We could hear a normal conversation in the next room crystal clear. The AC didn’t work well in one of our rooms, so it was quite hot. The shower didn’t drain properly, which was kind of gross. At least there was very little water pressure, so it didn’t get too full during a shower.
