Relais Navona

We were so happy we stayed here. The room was very large, and the minibar was free and restocked every day. WhatsApp communication helped us plan our time in Rome and came with great food recommendations. The location is simply unbeatable.

Navona Tower is only 30 metres from Piazza Navona, right in the heart of Rome and within walking distance of the major attractions. Location is a huge plus, but it also caused us trouble. The piazza and nearby streets are packed with restaurants and bars, and the evenings are busy. With the apartment's poor external soundproofing, getting a good night's sleep was hard. Bars shut around 1-2 am, garbage trucks came at 4 am, and restaurants restocked between 6-7 am. There's only a short window for sleep. You can embrace the nightlife and sleep through it on alcohol fumes, or come prepared with earplugs. I don't enjoy having to sleep with earplugs, and I'm not used to it. The apartment was adequate for our needs, though it could use some care. It sleeps four, and there were three of us, but the small kitchen had only one glass and two teacups. Oddly, the king-sized bed was a little short. Reception staff were welcoming and focused on customers. They cleaned every day, which we appreciated, and even washed our dishes, which I hadn't expected. I'd have rated service a 5 if they'd made sure there were enough glasses and cups for the apartment's capacity. My scores were 5 for location, 1 for noise, 3 for accommodation, and 4 for service, an average of 3.25 rounded to a final score of 3.

I was looking forward to staying here because it's an old building, the rooms looked comfortable, and it's a short walk from Piazza Navona. I was only there for one night before my flight home. At first things seemed fine, but then I noticed that quite a few things weren't clean, including the coffee cups. I wasn't going to use them, so I didn't think much of it, but finding old nail clippings on the supposedly fresh sheets really disgusted me. I wouldn't rule out staying again, but they need to improve the cleanliness.

The square and surrounding streets were full of nice spots to sit, people-watch, and eat delicious authentic food. The location was fantastic, and Milly was helpful and accommodating at check-in. The suite was really large, and having free tea, coffee, water, and wafers each day was a nice touch. It was a little hard to find at first, so look for the tiny sign by the door. The first climb up the stairs was tough after a long travel day with bags, but that was a minor issue and the location more than made up for it. Wonderful place, and we'll recommend it to others visiting Rome.
