Residenza Dorò

The check-in was supposed to be at 2:00 PM, and my friend and I arrived right on time. The doors were locked and there was no staff around. I tried the booking app, email, and phone, but got no reply. We ended up stuck in the hallway for two hours, exhausted and frustrated, with no way to get in. I’d booked with high expectations, but the experience was a nightmare. After 4:00 PM, a message finally came through the app with the access code and notice that we had to pay extra travel taxes. There was no apology. When I asked for one, I was told I should have contacted them in advance or checked in online. Nothing in the booking process said online check-in or advance contact was required. I arrived at the stated time, neither early nor late, so being blamed for something I hadn’t been told about made no sense. I messaged the owner again and got no further response. This fell below basic expectations and showed a complete lack of professionalism and customer service. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The staff were very responsive, quick, and helpful with all my questions about check-in and the room. They even helped me get an itemised bill several days after I’d left. The place was clean and comfortable, good value, and well located, with a nice restaurant downstairs and good transport links. I’m giving four stars because I’d have liked breakfast at the same location, and I personally prefer checking in with a person rather than by phone. Customer service was great.

It was freezing, and the air conditioning didn’t work. Communication was only in Italian, which we don’t speak. We paid for breakfast but got just one croissant and tea or coffee per person. At the end, they asked us for more money, and we still don’t know whether we have to pay it. We also can’t get an invoice for the expenses. The attitude in the chat was absolutely rude.

After busy days exploring Rome, this cozy one-room apartment had what we needed to rest, including a comfortable bed. Olimpico Stadium is also within walking distance if you’re going to a sports event or concert.
