Residenza Scarpetta

We paid 400€ for two nights, and this was the most disappointing place we've stayed so far. The staff were awful, rude, and unfriendly. We called again and again, but they kept hanging up, so we couldn't reach them. We were lost trying to find the apartment, which has no sign or street number, and needed somewhere to leave our bags. They wouldn't help at all. Luckily, the cleaner did. Nobody nearby even knew the place. It's on a narrow, dark street, up many steep steps. The stairs were old, dusty, and dirty, and there were garbage bags right as you entered. Inside, the apartment wasn't very clean, things looked ready to break, and there was no city view. The shower didn't work properly. We told Serena, a staff member, but she didn't seem to care. Water flooded the floor whenever we showered, and there wasn't even a mop. There were no toiletries, just two soaps for four people. Our sheets had hair and fluff on them, and it seemed they weren't changed often. The bed had barely any room around it, and the leaflet's instructions were easy to miss. It says guests are responsible for cleaning and removing the sheets, and that they may be charged more if anything is broken or the sheets are left on. We'd never recommend this place. Avoid it.

The location puts you right in the heart of Trastevere, while keeping you a little away from the chaos. It was very clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and I slept really well.

The location was good, but everything else left a lot to be desired.

Location is the only thing it has going for it.
