The location is great for getting around the city, and there's a kitchenette where you can make basic food and save some money. The host can also suggest routes and sights if you haven't had time to read a guidebook. A few things to know before booking: this is an independently run guesthouse in a quaint old building, not a hotel, so don't expect hotel-style access or all the modern conveniences. Look for the door with the large brass knockers opposite Mr Chows and ring the bell. Check the access hours before you arrive. If you'll get to Rome outside those hours, you may have trouble getting your keys, so this may not be the right place for a late arrival. It's a small business, rather than a big hotel chain. If you have accessibility needs, choose somewhere else.

The room was roomy, spotless, and quiet, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of the Quirinale, Termini Station, the Altare della Patria, and the Colosseum. Bus 64 to St. Peter's stops 150 meters away. There was no bidet, and the single curtain didn't block the street light well. There were no blackout curtains or blinds.

We got a genuinely warm, perfect welcome, and the room was cleaned every day. The one large room had a bathroom unit with a built-in kitchen. For the entrance, look for the Genova Guest House doorbell opposite number 30 Via Genova. The building is a large apartment split into several units. The only downside was that tenants can't turn on the central heating.
