Roma Room Hotel

The garden view was great, thanks! Staff were kind and quick to respond, and the rooms were clean, though they could use some renovation. The location is handy for both metro and bus stations. Be prepared for an extra tax at check-in. Overall, I'd recommend it. The price fits the quality.

The hotel is in a handy area, just a few minutes from the metro and several supermarkets. It was fine for sleeping during our school trip, but for the price, I wouldn't choose it for a private stay. The whole place felt odd, and the owners made us uncomfortable. Our four-person room was cramped but workable for a short stay. It faced a main road and could get noisy with traffic. Cleanliness was okay overall, but there was a lot of dust, which isn't great for people with allergies. Towels were replaced nearly every day, and the beds were made as part of the daily basic cleaning. Breakfast was very simple, as expected: bread, a few slices of cheese and cold cuts, cereal with milk including lactose-free, and some baked goods. The dining area was small and not especially cozy. The owners kept walking around, making it feel tense, as if we were being watched. Even the green plastic drink cups reminded me of a dentist's office. On arrival, our rooms weren't ready, but we appreciated being given a place to leave our luggage. The manager or owner made an unpleasant first impression by aggressively insisting that every suitcase be placed in one particular corner. Bags even slightly out of line drew loud reprimands. Later, when some of us queued for the restroom without blocking stairs or emergency exits, we were told sharply to wait outside and take turns going in one at a time. It took almost two hours just to use the restroom. Communication was difficult because the staff didn't speak English and we didn't speak Italian. They often used a phone translation app that translated everything into Chinese, which only made things more confusing.

This was the worst stay I've had. We booked two nights online, but at arrival the man at reception, who I think was called Mr Chen, told us to cancel and refused our credit card. He wanted cash instead. Since it was the weekend, we couldn't find an open bank or exchange office. The next day we still couldn't find one nearby, so we went back to pay by card. After taking the money, he yelled at me and tried to hit me. I called the police, and then he apologized, saying he'd been shouting because he'd fought with his wife. He seemed very strange and out of control. I advise people not to stay here. The room lights were very dim, the furnishings old, and the place wasn't clean at all.

The rooms are small, the showers have mold, and the fittings are loose. Broken air conditioners and safes made the stay worse. The hotel tenant was hard to talk to because he wouldn't listen to suggestions or requests, and got irritated and aggressive very quickly. The breakfast tasted so bad that after a few days none of the students came down to eat.
