Hotel Roma Vaticano

Our family of four enjoyed staying at the Hotel Roma Vaticano. We liked the area, and walking to many places wasn’t bad. The room’s temperature was often uncomfortable because the heating and cooling unit worked only some of the time. It could feel too warm, or quite cold on a rainy day. In the evening and at night, the bathroom sometimes smelled moldy or like a sewer. I think that may be because there’s no fan at all. Even with those issues, I’d stay again and recommend it to others.

There’s no view, just a small courtyard and the windows of other apartments. The bathroom drain smelled really bad all the time. Sound carries everywhere: I could hear other guests talking and showering in their rooms, even their phone alarms. Door buzzers and people coming and going and slamming doors were loud too. Earplugs are a must. On the plus side, the staff were friendly, the rooms had been modernized, and you can walk to the main sights or take the metro if you don’t want to walk.

A bit of an unusual place, but the hotel was clean and nice. The staff were welcoming and helpful.

Prati is a nice neighborhood with plenty of shops and good restaurants, and a mix of tourists and local residents. It’s roughly 1 km northeast of the Vatican, within walking distance of the Vatican and the big river, with metro and bus stops nearby. The building is old, the elevator is tight, and the hotel isn’t cheap.
