Roman Place

The rooms smelled bad, and the whole place felt old and dirty. I had the worst night of my life in this hostel, so please don't book here. I felt robbed and completely let down. I arrived at 10 p.m. in Termini, already tired and worried about being there late as a woman, and the owner wouldn't answer. I waited until 10:30 before he opened the door. Then at check-in he demanded another 15 euros because I had arrived at 10:30, even though that charge wasn't in the contract. He said the price changes after 10 p.m. He kept saying he'd messaged me about the extra fee, but nothing had come through. At 3 a.m. the night before, he sent a message demanding payment and saying he'd throw me out if I didn't pay. I had nowhere else to go at that hour. This place ruined my trip. I'd rather sleep on the street than stay here.

We gave them our arrival time well ahead, yet nobody answered the phone or doorbell when we got there. It took an hour before anyone came to help us. The accommodation itself was very basic and disappointing. There was no hot water in the shower, and the blankets were so thin that we asked for thicker ones. Those only arrived on our second night. The area also felt quite dangerous late at night.

There are buses and public transport nearby, plus supermarkets and bars, and I thought it was good value. The place itself isn't anything special, but it works for a night or if you only need somewhere to sleep. The staff were really friendly and attentive, and the service was excellent.
