The only real plus was the location near the Vatican. My mother stayed for five days, and there was no cleaning service, no fresh towels, no room service, and no shampoo. The rooms were old and dirty, the whole place looked run down, and I saw dirty mattresses left on the hallway floor behind a wardrobe. It made me question the hygiene. When we tried to check in, the owner, who called himself Marco, was very rude. We had trouble paying, and although he clearly didn’t know much English, he refused cash and insisted on a card. We tried explaining that paying online was difficult because the building’s Wi-Fi was poor even with mobile data. He started cursing at us in Italian and threatening to cancel the reservation. His hostile attitude made it seem like he cared only about the money, not the service.

We got what we paid for: a simple place with a private bedroom and bathroom. It’s small, but luckily we didn’t have the problems mentioned in other reviews. No bed bugs, the water was hot, and the pressure was good.

We booked this accommodation on Booking.com. They said that if we couldn’t check in before 1800, we wouldn’t be allowed to stay and would get our money back. That makes no sense. This feels like a scam, taking people’s money and putting fake reviews on Booking.com. Don’t go there!

I felt unsafe during our stay because the manager was so unprofessional and stressful to deal with. He kept calling to demand cash for a tax, insisted on meeting in person, and wouldn’t accept another payment method. We never got check-in instructions and had to work it all out ourselves. Afterward, I came across disturbing reviews about him, including reports of harassment. Once I posted a negative review, he filed what I believe was a false complaint on Booking.com, demanding €150 for alleged damage as revenge. Avoid this place.

We ended up sleeping in the car after the owner failed to give us the information we needed and then said we could no longer check in. We had a booking, but he still charged us, and later we were charged a no-show fee as well. We paid twice the price for nothing. It was the biggest scam I’ve ever witnessed. If you care about your money, reconsider booking here. Hope this keeps others from getting scammed. Good luck to you all.
