Hotel San Valentino

The staff were easily the best part: everyone was kind, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and everything worked, which mattered most to me. Mine was the cheapest option and had no view, while rooms on the other side look over the street. The bathroom felt a bit old but was clean and functional, and the bed was huge and really comfortable. Hotel San Valentino is a straightforward three-star place in a lovely neighborhood, with plenty to do nearby and many attractions within walking distance, including the Vatican in about 15 minutes. As a solo traveler looking for somewhere inexpensive but decent, it suited me perfectly. Great value for the money, and I’d absolutely recommend it.

The receptionist was really, really kind, and the location felt safe and comfortable, close to the tourist sights and right by a nice restaurant. My room had a lovely view, was cleaned daily, and was quite spacious, with comfortable beds and pillows. A few little things could use attention: the shower door was broken, one curtain had come off its rail, there was no spoon to stir the coffee, and the doors and furniture were worn and old. Even so, it was a great choice and good value for money.

I arrived late at night and found a room at a good price compared with nearby hotels. Check-in was quick and easy, and the receptionist was calm and very nice. He spoke English and Italian very well, as I spoke to him in both languages. I was just there to sleep, and the room was nice and clean. The reception is always open and available, which made the place feel very safe. The hotel door is locked overnight, with the receptionist there. It’s a five-minute walk from Vatican City, and the nearby Metro connects to Rome’s main areas and Termini. It was my first short stay in Rome, and next time I’ll choose this hotel again.

The room is spacious and has a closet, fridge and kettle. The bathroom is tiny, but the shower pressure is amazing. There are loads of restaurants and places to eat nearby, plus shops on a main road five minutes away on foot. For the price and location, it’s a good hotel for a short stay. The bed was comfortable and the AC cooled the room quickly. I stayed two nights, and I’m not complaining too much, but I wouldn’t come back. The walls are very thin, so noise from other guests, including loud intimate activity, carried through. Birds in the morning added to the noise. Also, the sheets and towels didn’t feel very clean. Those noise and cleanliness issues cost it two stars.
