Althea Inn Roof Terrace

We stayed three days and would happily return. The staff were kind and helpful, and the clean, nicely decorated room had all the comfort we needed. Breakfast was delicious, fresh, and plentiful, and the roof terrace was a peaceful spot to unwind after exploring central Rome. A lovely place if you want an authentic atmosphere, good service, and a clean room.

The staff went above and beyond, even arranging an early breakfast when we had to leave early. We could also leave our bags at reception. Breakfast was the best perk, with great coffee and lots of sweet and savory choices before a full day exploring Rome. Our smaller non-suite room was still roomy enough for us, with a comfortable bed, space to move around and store our things, and a small table with dining chairs. The rooms are modern and very clean, and we could barely hear the neighbors unless they were in the hallway. The area felt quiet and safe, with plenty of restaurant options in walking distance around the neighborhood. It’s close to Rome’s main attractions without the business. I’m really grateful we stayed here and would highly recommend it.

We liked being able to eat dinner at neighborhood restaurants instead of heading into the more touristy center, and breakfast on the terrace was a nice daily perk. The area was peaceful, but the center was still only a few metro stops away or about a 20-minute walk. Getting here from the airport was easy, and we could also catch trains to other parts of Italy without hassle.

We came back to this hotel on our second visit to Rome, and we'd happily stay again. The receptionist was kind throughout, and breakfast was both tasty and served promptly. It's a little way from the center, but the metro gets you there easily and bus 83 brings you back. From Ostiense station, the regional train to Fiumicino takes about 30 minutes and is straightforward. Good value for money, and I'll return if I'm in Rome again.
