We barely slept during our stay. Students ran and shouted along the corridors on the next two nights, banging on doors until 3 a.m. We called reception several times and were told it would be handled, but the noise carried on. The last night was worst of all, with banging and shouting waking my partner and me every half hour. After we complained downstairs, builders started drilling, sawing, and banging in the corridor at 7 a.m. We had less than three hours of sleep before asking to speak to the manager. He shouted over my partner, was extremely rude, and said he couldn't resolve any of it. Isn't managing problems part of his job? There were other serious issues. Our balcony door wouldn't shut or lock, and even when it looked closed, there was a gap wide enough to put a finger through. Water dripped onto the balcony from above, apparently from another room, as it hadn't rained. Staff tried to tell us it was fine. There was also dirty shower water leaking across the balcony and a lot of bird droppings above our windows. The air conditioning didn't work. When I asked, reception said they wouldn't switch it on because it was winter, even though the hotel was advertised as having air conditioning. On our first night, a receptionist was very rude and told us we couldn't take our key out of the hotel, which made me worry about leaving our passports in the room. I've traveled all over and never been told that before. I was disappointed. I expected better quality from an Italian hotel, and this was far from it. Breakfast was average at best, and I think somebody may have paid to call it four-star. Two stars at most. Rome is beautiful, and the neighborhood around the hotel is nice, with easy metro access to the main sights, but if you're from the UK, please don't waste your money staying here.

Getting a good night's sleep was the biggest problem. For two nights, students ran around and slammed doors until 2 or 3 in the morning. We complained twice and got no response. On the last morning, construction started two doors away at 7 and went on until 9. While we waited for the manager, the work kept going. He brushed off our lack of sleep and said there was nothing he could do. When we arrived, our balcony door couldn't be locked and people could reach through it. We were moved, but the nights remained awful. There were other things we might have overlooked otherwise: you have to hand in your key when leaving, there was no air conditioning, and the four-star rating felt more like a two. The decor looked worn and seemed not to have been updated in 5-10 years. The location also wasn't very central to the metro. This was one of the worst hotels I've stayed in for sleep and customer service. I wouldn't recommend it if you want a decent night's rest.

The room was bigger than the listing suggested: Booking.com said 12 square meters, but it was closer to 20 and had a spacious balcony I hadn't expected. The neighborhood was calm and elegant, and there's a bus stop right beside the hotel, a metro station about a five-minute walk away, plus a 24/7 Carrefour, restaurants, and a pharmacy next door. The location is fantastic for getting around Rome, and the price makes this very good value. The quality may not be the best you can find, but I'd definitely recommend the hotel.

My family spent one night here on April 6, and I was very disappointed. Our travel group, WingBuddy, chose Hotel Santa Costanza. The woman at reception who first met us was unfriendly. Less than 12 hours later, I asked at the desk for some water and a man barked at me to go to the restaurant. When I got there, another older man snapped at me and didn't help me get something as simple as water. Service was terrible, and I wouldn't recommend this place. There are plenty of other good hotels in the area.

The breakfast manager was the bright spot: hardworking, welcoming, and genuinely kind. The breakfast itself, though, had very little choice. Our room was tiny and poorly soundproofed, so we could hear water in the pipes and noise from neighboring rooms. Nobody helped with our luggage when we arrived, and some staff weren't helpful. The location also wasn't convenient for a first visit to Rome, with no nearby sights, shops, or restaurants. I wouldn't recommend it to first-time visitors.
