Scaletta Apartment

The food was tasty, and the price was about what you'd expect in Trastevere. Table service was poorly organized, though. Each person seemed to have a separate role, but it wasn't working. Assigning waiters to individual tables would be better, especially since some staff weren't doing anything while tables still needed attention.

We were greeted warmly by attentive, friendly staff, and the roast chicken was nicely seasoned and cooked just right. The rigatoni carbonara was tasty, though a little too salty for me, and the house lasagna was good. We also ordered salad, juice, and beer. The salad was the letdown: it was a small portion with very few ingredients, and could have been more substantial for the price. Still, we had a good experience at La Scaletta.

The long waits made this a really disappointing visit. It took about 20 minutes to order, another 30 minutes for the coffee, and over an hour for the food. The tiramisu came even after the main dishes, which felt very disorganized. Service was poor, the waits were unreasonable, and the staff didn't seem to pay much attention to customers. I wouldn't recommend this place.

We'd barely finished eating when they were already trying to get us to leave, they seemed to be in a real rush. Then it took around 20 minutes to pay, even though we called for someone twice. The toilet area was awful too, and apparently hadn't been cleaned for a few days. The meal itself was just as bad. The dishes were cold, the sauce was oily and tasteless, and the guanciale pieces were burnt. Service was impolite and communication was difficult. I asked to change my dish only seconds after ordering, but they just said no because they claimed they'd started making it already. I don't see how they could have started in 30 seconds. We also ordered one of the 'big' salads, but as the picture shows, it was almost a single portion.
