Smart Lodgings Plus

The unit is tucked away at the back of the apartment block, on the ground floor, so we didn’t need either of the two old lifts. It was very quiet, and the beds were good. They were cleaning the unit as we checked in, which was good. There are cooking facilities and a dining table. It’s a 7-minute walk to both the Ottaviano metro and the Vatican. There’s a British pub just outside, and lots of restaurants to the right as you leave the unit.

The bedding was very comfortable, and the kitchen worked well. We had a pleasant stay for a few days, with the apartment conveniently near the Vatican and plenty of shops, including restaurants and supermarkets. The fridge didn’t seem to work very well, though, and the apartment felt quite humid even with the ventilation on. We noticed silverfish near the shower.

Gabrielle was super friendly, and the neighborhood has bars, pharmacies, supermarkets, tobacconists, and more. The Vatican is a 6-minute walk away, and it’s also a 6-minute walk to the A metro line. There’s a bus stop right outside and another on the street behind. The apartment is on a main avenue. We arrived very early, but they got us settled and cleaned the apartment while we explored the area. The Red apartment has a separate bedroom, a bathroom, and a living room with a kitchen, Smart TV, and sofa. The sofa might be the only downside because it isn’t very comfortable, but it’s not a big deal. They even provide toothbrushes and flip-flops. Highly recommended, I’ll be back!

We were really impressed by how clean the apartment was, which is often lacking in this type of accommodation, and by how helpful the owner, Gabriele, was. It’s right in the heart of Rome, just steps from the Vatican.
