Giulia, who I believe is the owner, was very friendly, and she let us check in early even though we only meant to leave our suitcase. The location is decent, near Termini and a Metro stop, and the place was clean, with useful tips in a folder about nearby groceries and sights. The wifi worked well, the safe was built into the wall, and Giulia fixed the balcony blinds the day after they wouldn't open. It was cheap, though, and that showed. The room was fine for sleeping, but little else. It was dated, with sagging old mattresses, a cold room and just one space heater. Parts of the wall were coming loose. The doors were so thin we heard the next-door guest snoring and their alarm. One morning the water heater was broken, so there was no hot water. The lights by the room entrance didn't work, and there was nowhere to hang a jacket.

The guest was really nice, friendly, and helpful. She printed our plane ticket and got us a useful map of Rome. The rooms themselves are very small, and although the listing says smoking isn't allowed, ours smelled terribly of smoke when we came in. The towels smelled of it too.

The polite ladies were the only reason for the one star. The building and elevator are extremely old, and our room was nothing like the photo: it was tiny, with awful bedding and mattress. The bathroom was small and dated, with nowhere to put a toiletry kit, and the toilet looked permanently dirty because it was so old. We paid 95 euros for that room, while a three-star hotel in the same area costs 120-130 euros. Breakfast was brought to the room, but there wasn't even anywhere to set the tray.

We got help checking in early at 11:40, so thanks to the hotel staff for that. But the room was filthy. The sheets were stained, with what looked like traces of blood in places, and we found a used condom in the room. Disgusting. We arrived late at night and couldn't raise our complaints then, but with this cleaning problem, I definitely can't recommend the place.
