Monica made my stay feel personal, with her warm welcome and useful local tips for getting around and finding things. The rooms are small, but laid out thoughtfully, and mine had clean linens, good toiletries, tasteful décor, and a lovely window seat looking out over the green tree canopy. There was fresh coffee each day and wine glasses, too, so I could enjoy a bottle from the nearby market by the window. The B&B is in a traditional Roman apartment building on a quiet, tree-lined residential street. It feels like a local secret, even though the historic center is about a 10-minute walk away. The Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, and Pantheon are all within walking distance. I felt particularly safe on the street as a woman traveling alone, even after dark. There’s a supermarket about 50 meters away, plus several good restaurants, including a Michelin-starred one, and some nice wine bars. The vintage elevator has plenty of old-world character, with its clunks and whirrs. Walking is a pleasure here, and even a 20-minute walk to major sights takes you through streets so beautiful they’re part of the experience. The Metro can get you to Vatican City, but it’s crowded, so keep an eye on your belongings. I preferred exploring on foot. For the reasonable rates, this is a welcoming, characterful base in a great location.

The location is lovely, with a supermarket nearby. It’s a 15-minute walk or five minutes by bus to the central station. The room was large, air-conditioned, very clean, and had its own bathroom, and the value for the price was great. We asked for the curtains and room to be vacuumed before we arrived because my daughter is very allergic to dust, and they did a really thorough job. The person who welcomed us was so, so friendly. I loved her! Gracie! The hotel has just six rooms in a building, so look carefully for the address since there’s no sign. I’d definitely recommend it.

This isn’t a hotel as advertised, but a group of rooms in an apartment building run as a B&B. It was very affordable and in a quiet part of Rome, and worked well for our family, all of us over 18, to get to the attractions. The only taxi we took was to the Vatican, which was quite far away. Our place had a queen bed, a second bedroom with two twin beds, and a bathroom. I can see check-in being a bit tricky outside regular hours, but they accommodated us when we arrived on an overnight flight. The woman at the desk was pleasant and kind, and the room was clean and comfortable. Based on our situation and experience, I’d recommend it.

Our room was cancelled just THREE DAYS before we were due to arrive. When I called, they blamed “system errors.” I suspect they had oversold, but either way, it caused a major disruption. We had to pause our morning plans in Florence to look for another hotel in Rome. With our trip only three days away, prices were ridiculously high, and we ended up paying more for a hotel with a much lower rating. I checked other one-star reviews and it seems this has happened before. I personally do NOT recommend this place.

The staff were very good. The cleaners did an amazing job, and reception was really helpful. Our room was quite noisy, though most places to stay in Italy seem noisy. If you’re heading to the airport, ask about the private driver. It costs only a little more than the train.
