Marlon was the man. He answered all my annoying questions within a few minutes, no matter when I asked, and had great tips about food, drinks, and getting around. He even helped carry my wife's 700 kilo bag down the spiral stairs. Thanks again, Marlon! Getting to the room is an experience of its own. The plain green door is tucked inside a restaurant's outdoor seating area, then there's a long hallway with modern wall lights and a marble spiral staircase. The stairs are exhausting, but the climb to the 3rd floor is worth it. Up there are three rooms and a lobby with Marlon's desk. The room felt recently renovated, with wood floors, newspaper clippings, a modern sink and shower, and a huge window that opens onto the square below. The room was modern, chic, and edgy, with a floor to ceiling window that acts like a balcony. Swing open the shutters and you can look down at everyone below like royalty. And the location really is central. StarHome Novana is steps from Piazza Novana. Roma Termini is a 20-minute taxi ride away for €15, traffic permitting. You can walk to pretty much everything within 30 minutes: Colosseum and Roman Forum in 25, Trevi fountain in 11, Pantheon in 6, Vatican in 30, Jewish Ghetto in 15, Spanish Steps in 15, and Piazza Novana in no time. Rome cabs aren't expensive either, so you can always grab one. We had a blast and would definitely come back to Roma. You won't regret booking here. Andiamo!

When the hot tub broke, water soaked my clothes and a lot of my other things. They said it had been serviced a month earlier, so it couldn't be broken, even though I'd used it several times and it had worked. Things happen, but they didn't try to make it right. Now I'm heading to our next destination with everything soaked and no way to dry it.

My daughter and I spent one night at Starhome nova. The room was very clean and the location was amazing. It was perfect, and we'd absolutely stay again.

The biggest problem was how much we could hear through the paper thin walls. We could make out the neighbors talking, and their other, ahem, hotel activities too. In that respect it felt more like a hostel. There's also no getting around three flights of stairs. They helped with our luggage on arrival, but the stairs got old as we went in and out exploring Rome. The listing led me to expect a hotel, especially since it's in the name. It's really more like an Airbnb, where you need to contact someone to be let in and get the keys, and there are virtually no other amenities. Our oddly shaped room was fine, the AC cooled it, and the TV and internet worked. It wasn't a bad stay, but the misleading listing is why I give it three stars instead of four. If you want something nice in Rome, look elsewhere.

There are quite a few steps to reach the room, so keep that in mind if stairs are an issue. The bed was very soft, the kind you sink into, and left us with some pain in the mornings. There was also no soundproofing from outside or the other rooms, so it may suit heavy sleepers better. The location on piazza navona was the best, with everything close enough to walk to. Our room was quite spacious, and we got a basket of treats with some extra Christmas cheer. The man at reception was kind and helpful. Breakfast at a nearby café was croissants, coffee of your choice, and orange juice. It doesn't sound like much, but it was surprisingly great.
