This felt like someone's apartment split into guest rooms, in an old building that's in poor condition. The room was a shock: damp smell, bedbugs, and old sponge mattresses. The advertised photos looked nothing like the reality. I had booked a room with a private hotel, then found out on arrival that the toilet was outside the room in the lobby way. It was expensive for rooms like these and not suitable for anyone wanting better standards or for families. I had to book elsewhere and stayed barely six hours. I didn't get a refund, since they tricked me about the toilet in the room. The area felt a bit sketchy and unsafe.

Stella is cheerful and welcoming, and I’m always glad to return. I’ve stayed here often over the years. It’s clean and gives you the feeling of an old-style Roman home. The location in central Rome is great, and the price can’t be beaten. I highly recommend it.

It felt truly authentic, from the building and surroundings to the welcome, and I absolutely loved my stay. Stella, the owner, was wonderful. It’s definitely not modern, if that’s what you’re after, but it feels genuinely real.

There’s no en suite, but it’s still a place I’d recommend. The bed is large and comfortable, the location is good, near the metro and the Aurelian Walls, and Stella makes a great espresso.

There's nowhere to eat, relax, or watch TV, and the kitchen isn't available for guest use. Breakfast was only juice and cheap bread, and sometimes it wasn't ready at the scheduled time.
