Suite Inn Rome

Families, stay away. We have two infants and realized the Via Giolitti location was very dangerous. We told the host, Fabio, 40 days in advance, but he is refusing to refund us and is keeping our money. The service was rude and unprofessional. This doesn't feel safe for families.

Valentina was warm and friendly, and helped us with what we needed. Breakfast was great, and the security was good too. The place is right across from the train station, and having an elevator made getting our luggage upstairs much easier. They cleaned our room every day, which isn't something every accommodation does. We enjoyed our stay. Just a note, they provide towels and shower gel, but no toothbrush, so bring your own.

The only real positives were the location across from Rome train station, three complimentary bottles of water, and an owner who responded and was good at explaining things. For a room costing $350 a night, though, we expected much more. I would avoid this place unless you specifically need to be within walking distance of the station or find it for a very cheap price. At $350, it felt like a scam. The building was old and dirty, with several gates to unlock before reaching the room. That made us feel imprisoned, and there was a rat trap by the entrance. The surrounding area didn't feel safe for walking at night, which made all those gates seem less surprising. Our room was small and shut in, with hardly any amenities: no cups or glasses and no coffee machine. There was no AC. The owner said a “modern system” adjusts the temperature based on humidity and the outdoor temperature, so we had no way to control it ourselves. The room also wasn't as advertised. We heard people yelling and pounding on the floor or wall. The bathroom was an okay size, but the toilet leaked and hot water took a long time.

I'm usually really picky about hotels, but this one exceeded what I expected. It's a small place, with about six rooms, and there's barely any breakfast. The rooms were very clean, the beds and pillows comfortable, the shower great, and the air conditioning was amazing. We came during a heat wave and stayed cool and comfortable the whole time. They even gave us water at check-in.
