Hotel Sweet Home

The room was dirty, with ants everywhere, and we had to move because it was so unpleasant. The shower and bathroom looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a year, and the toilet seat cover was held together with tape. Workers were doing construction early on Saturday while people were sleeping, waking the whole floor. That evening, loud music from the venue under the hotel went on until 2 in the morning. I usually try not to let my own experience sway people, but seriously, don’t use this hotel. Find somewhere else and save yourself the same mistake we made.

A very good place to stay, with good staff. It’s close to Coloseum, about a ten-minute walk, and five minutes from Termeni Station.

It’s a short walk from the train station, and outside noise goes away when you shut the window. But the rooms are pretty poor. In my quintuple room, my bed wasn’t a mattress, just some hard cushion thing. You can hear everything on the floor, even someone wheeling a suitcase. It’s cheap for a reason.

The room was clean and looked like the photos, but there wasn’t much space to move around. The TV was odd too, basically an Android phone on the screen, and it took us a while to get it working. Being near Termini was handy, though it’s a sketchy area. The reception was open 24/7, and we had to leave our room key when going out. But when we came back, anyone could simply name the key they wanted, with no proof it was their room. That didn’t feel very safe. We spoke Italian, but the staff refused to speak it and only spoke English. The staff were hit or miss. The biggest issue was the bathroom. The toilet wouldn’t flush because the tank wouldn’t fill. When we asked the front desk for help, the person got it to flush but didn’t explain how to fix it, just said we’d used too much toilet paper. We figured it out ourselves, but shouldn’t have to fiddle with the toilet every time. There were old Pepsi cans in the tank that staff had apparently used to keep the mechanism working. The bathroom also smelled strongly of chlorine, which was unpleasant. I don’t recommend this place. There were too many problems.
