Taramelli - 2205 - Rome - HLD 34419

The balcony was a lovely place to spend quiet evenings listening to birds, and the rooms were clean. The staff were kind, respectful, and very professional. We’re from Canada and have stayed at many Best Westerns, but this Rome one was better than 90% of the ones back home. Breakfast had great variety and was fresh and tasty. The neighborhood was quiet, with tram and trolleybus stops nearby for getting around. We chose to walk instead, and it took about an hour to reach both the city center and the Vatican. It was a beautiful walk. This felt like a perfect home base in Rome, and I highly recommend it.

The location is the one good thing this hotel still has. I've stayed here four times, but I won't look for a reservation again. The rooms are badly worn, the bathroom is uncomfortable, and keeping the water at a steady temperature is impossible. The receptionist, who was the same on all my trips, was kind at first but is grumpy now. It's classified as four-star, but to me it's lost 3.5 stars. I don't think it has enough to earn even one star or keep the BW brand.

The hotel was very clean, with lovely interiors and friendly staff. Breakfast and coffee were delicious, and it's in a great spot, just 450 meters from the bus and train stops. I'd definitely stay here again.

Check the policies carefully before booking. Somehow the date booked through a third-party travel site was wrong. I didn't change it; that was the date it had from the start. I noticed right away and contacted e*******, who said the hotel had a no-change, no-refund policy. Ridiculous. I only needed the date changed. Hotel Rivoli refused. I emailed them to explain what happened and got no reply at all. My credit card was charged for a room on a date when I wasn't even traveling. Charging someone over a mistake like this feels completely unjust and absurd. I won't consider this hotel brand again. Good luck.
