The rooftop view was one of our favorite parts of staying at The Hive Hotel. We loved sitting up there and taking in the city. The restaurant was another highlight, with fresh, tasty food, lovely preparation, and excellent service. The hotel is beautiful, modern, spotless, and handy for exploring Rome on foot. So many major sights were within walking distance that we barely needed transport. Our room and the rest of the stay exceeded what we expected. Everyone on staff made us feel cared for, from the warm, professional front desk team to the helpful bellhops and hospitality staff. The service, food, location, and accommodations all made this a five-star stay for us. We'd happily return and recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.

Our downstairs room was between the conference suite and a staff area, and we kept being woken by power tools, furniture being shifted, and staff coming and going and slamming doors. It happened at 2am and 6am, which really wasn't acceptable. We couldn't understand why we were put there when the hotel seemed to have plenty of rooms and the conference guests weren't on our floor, especially at nearly 250 euros a night. We complained after the second night and reception said it would be sorted, but didn't offer to move us. Nothing changed. At checkout, the receptionist apologized and said we should have been moved, and that they'd tell the team. There was no compensation or other fix. It made an already disappointing stay feel worse for the price. We were there for four nights. The room was large and mostly clean, though there was some mould in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of storage. The bathroom was spacious, but the shower pressure was weak and hot water often ran low. Breakfast on the top floor had a good range, but very little gluten-free food, even though we'd emailed ahead and been told that wouldn't be a problem. The hotel is in a convenient spot, but it seemed better suited to business travelers and conferences than tourists. I'd make sure not to get a downstairs room.

The rooftop restaurant and its staff were a real surprise. The menus were outstanding for a hotel restaurant, and having a drink with dinner up there was a treat. The spa and wellness area looks great, and the gym is nice, though charging 15€/person for it doesn't seem right. The hotel is well equipped and up to a good standard, and the service was okay. Morning traffic from 6-10 makes the location loud, so try for a room at the back.

Alik was a bright spot at dinner. He managed to get my child mashed potatoes with meat and fresh juice, and the meat he suggested was good. We liked his service much more than that of the other rather sluggish waiters. The evening menu was limited, though, and breakfast on the fifth floor, in a lovely big room with an open balcony, had little choice. I got tired of dry bread. The new hotel has a spacious entrance hall, and it was quick to ask for an extra towel. The air conditioning worked well. But the walls seemed like cardboard, we could hear absolutely everything, including traffic through closed windows. I kept looking for a window to shut because cars sounded right by my ear, but the window was already closed. It was hard for me and my child to get enough sleep after long outings. I also didn't like how the hot water was limited after 10 p.m. It was only lukewarm, and too cold for a proper shower in the evening.

Everything felt great, and the staff were responsive and always ready to help. The rooms are spacious, and the hotel is clean. Its location is excellent, less than 2km from all the sights.
