The Place in Rome

The Palace in Rome cancelled my booking, but I still haven’t received my money back. They offered no flexibility, rescheduling, or accountability. Taking payment and then disappearing feels completely unethical, and I wouldn’t trust a hotel that behaves this way. I’m sharing this so other travelers can avoid the same experience. I also hope management finally gets in touch and sorts this out.

A coffee machine in the room was a nice touch, and the hotel is close to Roma Termini. Still, it didn’t quite add up to the Roman experience I’d hoped for. The rooms are small, and the old building has limited amenities. It’s also a bit far from the main attractions. Be aware that arriving after midnight costs €40.

We were there with our 6 month boy, and he felt great too. The breakfast was delicious, and the hotel was cleaner than most places I’ve stayed around Europe. Staff were very polite, spoke excellent English, and explained which nearby restaurants were good, which added a lot to our time in the city. The location is superb, with all the main attractions within walking distance. Since it’s a hostel, you can hear other guests returning to their rooms most of the time, so keep that in mind. If you’re not a morning person, the 3d floor may not suit you because that’s where breakfast is served.

The staff were really friendly and nice, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was good too. The hotel is decent, though not fancy, and the location was its best feature. Breakfast was a little poor for my taste. The reception is right next to the rooms, and the walls are really thin. We could hear people talking there and the person in the next room snoring.
