We left Torre Capranica early because of a personal emergency. On our flight home, we realized we were covered in bed bug bites. It was horrifying. We disinfected all our belongings right away and spent hours cleaning, and we're still dealing with the effects. We told the property, sent photo proof, and formally asked for a refund. They denied it, suggested the bites might be from mosquitoes, dismissed what happened, and never followed up. We travel often and have never had anything like this happen before. The apartment looks nice in photos, but it seems to lack basic hygiene control and hospitality standards. If something goes wrong, you'll be on your own. Avoid this place.

The decor was lovely, the place was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Even though Torre Capranica is one street above the Pantheon, it stayed quiet at night. The location is ideal if you want to walk everywhere, and we really enjoyed our stay with our one-year-old toddler. The deluxe room worked well for a family with a small child. The one negative was the shower: it was tiny despite the bathroom being spacious, and it would be hard to use if you're tall. I hope they change it in time.
Ryan was awesome, and whenever we had an issue, the staff replied promptly and helped us out. It's a boutique hotel, so there's no 24-hour reception. We had a great stay with my husband and 3yo son, and I was surprised by some of the bad reviews. The rooms looked just like the booking.com listing, the Wi-Fi was great, and the beds were super comfy. This is such a cool building, and the most unique, beautiful hotel I've stayed in for a long time. The location was so central to beautiful ancient landmarks and great restaurants that I hadn't even realized how much was nearby. It was also super affordable. The two small things for us were that the lift wasn't working, which may be hard for some people, and the showers were confusing to me as an American. Once we worked it out, the water was lovely and warm, but our first showers were cold. A little shower tutorial at check-in might help. Still, Torre Capranica is a gem and I'd highly recommend it.
The room access made us feel unsafe. After two very large staircases, about four flights in total, we reached a tiny lift that stopped halfway and lost power. We had to keep pressing the button to get it going again and make it up several more floors. The place was nicely decorated, but the downstairs was almost unlit, and the shower had exposed pipes and hardware that shouldn't have been there. We appreciated the employee who showed us the room, but the manager was highly unprofessional when we raised these concerns by phone. We took a chance on this new hotel because it had a few excellent reviews, though in hindsight they don't seem to reflect what we experienced. Very disappointing.
The room was clean and close to Rome's sights. Staff were so accommodating about our early check-in and helped arrange pickup and taxi service for our excursions. Thanks again for making our stay unforgettable. We had a very pleasant time.
