Vatican Bed & Breakfast

It’s very small and basic, but low-priced and minutes on foot from the Vatican. The location is excellent, though I wouldn’t go back. There was no hot breakfast, just boxed cereal and boxed milk, with no coffee or cream. The two towels per person had to last three days. The tiny refrigerator didn’t work, and the room had a very small wall-mounted LCD TV with a remote. Getting to the room meant going up 18 steps and then down 18, with no lift or help. I dragged four large suitcases down and back up, and felt like I was going to die. The Wi-Fi never worked. I put my T-Mobile phone against our room window and used its hotspot to get internet access. The Wi-Fi was there, but it just didn’t work. The place was quiet. There’s a mini mart close by with fresh food, and excellent coffee two doors down. It was my first time in Europe, and I learned to ask for only half the coffee in the milk. They might think you’re a weak American, but I was worried about damaging my kidneys. Once I figured that out, I actually liked the coffee. The Vatican is so close, but the rooms are extremely minimal.

We felt comfortable and safe, and the staff were wonderful. The price is honestly hard to beat for everything you need in Rome. There’s A/C, Wi-Fi, a hot shower, and a great location. We’d definitely stay again.

The price was great, and the apartment worked perfectly for what we needed. We had good air conditioning and hot water, and the Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica are just across the street.
