The room had a small kitchen, was cleaned very well every day, and felt secure, with double verification needed to access each room. The receptionist was amazing, really informative and helpful, and they had anything we needed. The hotel is very close to the pantheon and Fontana di trevi. We took a taxi to the colosseum and Vatican, though that’s nothing to do with the hotel. The old elevator was confusing to use and seemed to break easily. The staff handled that, so it wasn’t an issue for us. Excellent hotel, no complaints!

We stayed for four nights in Dec-Jan 2026 with our 10-year-old, who did well with the little twin bed in the entry. The hotel had thoughtful touches: we borrowed an AC adapter and umbrellas, and when the airline lost our luggage, we washed clothes in the utility sink. Wifi worked well too. It’s very central, within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon, a short bus ride from the Colosseum, and an easy metro trip to the Vatican. I’d recommend Unica Suites to anyone under 60. Older guests may not enjoy the lack of an elevator.

The housekeeping and reception staff were good, and the place is close to the metro, though getting there means an uphill walk that’s awkward with luggage. It’s in a building from the 1600s, so the doors and floor are very old, and even with an elevator you still have to walk up or down a flight of stairs. The room was dim, especially the kitchen, which had only one small bulb. There was no dressing table, just a mirror, and that spot was poorly lit too. No iron either. The kitchen basics were limited to plates, cups, forks, spoons, and a butter knife, with no scissors, knife, salt, or pepper. For me, it was a 3.5/5.

The room was spacious and nicely decorated, and the location was right in the middle of the attractions and restaurants. They left two complimentary water bottles for the whole stay, which was a nice gesture, but we were told that neither the water nor coffee pods would be replenished. I couldn’t find a gym, or any mention of one, and there weren’t other facilities apart from the room. The hotel says there’s elevator access, but some rooms can’t be reached by elevator. The front desk was only staffed for certain hours, and when a light fixture gave us trouble after hours, we couldn’t reach anyone. One front desk staff member was harsh when I brought up water leaking from upstairs and gave no answer or solution. That professionalism issue is why I’m taking off stars.

We needed an unusual setup for our trip, two queen beds in a secure place, and that’s what led us to choose Unica Suites for the week. The room combined the feel of a hotel room, a suite, and a one-bedroom apartment. Housekeeping was generally great and available daily, which was a big improvement over vacation rentals. Some prices, like bottled water and Nespresso pods, were a little nutty, but the stay was lovely overall. Our room had a window that had previously been cracked, which slightly affected the view but didn’t really change our experience. Being on the top floor made a big difference. If we’d been on a lower floor, we would have missed the view and enjoyed the stay less. The shower products were life-changing. We’ve tried to order them back to the States, but they aren’t available for export. When we visit Rome again, we’ll probably stay here just for the shampoo and body wash. The property doesn’t have a restaurant, which made late-night food after check-in less convenient, but a taxi across town got us to some solid options.
