Vatican Miracle Suite

Alessia was very helpful with arranging reasonably priced pickup from the train station on our arrival day and a ride to the airport when we left. The location was excellent, near the Vatican and some great restaurants. The apartment was spacious and well appointed, and for the most part clean. It had two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom for privacy, plus a blowdryer and water heater in each. The check-in left a bad taste from the start. The hostess who came to show us the apartment and introduce us to Rome wasn't very helpful, and seemed unfamiliar with the amenities, as if it might have been her first time there. In the fridge we found a half-eaten sandwich, an open drink can, and some snacks. Instead of saying the cleaner had missed them and clearing them away, she claimed she'd forgotten her own things and left them on the counter for me to dispose of. There were also three bags of dirty linens inside the front door when we arrived. The hostess apologized and said she expected the cleaning staff to collect them later that day. After dinner and shopping, they were still there. I contacted owner Alessia about another matter that evening and mentioned the linens too, but the bags stayed there for all four days of our stay. Someone should have taken responsibility for calling to have them collected or coming to get them. The air conditioner in my wife's and my bedroom didn't work properly either. We turned it on after check-in, went out for a few hours, and came back to a stifling hot room. I told Alessia, and after giving me advice about the settings, she said she'd come by the next day while we were out. We left the bedroom door open for the rest of the stay so the air conditioning from the kitchen could cool our room. That worked okay, so I let Alessia know, but the unit still definitely wasn't working. It might have been a minor issue, but every day we were in Rome was over 30°C.
