Vatican rooms haven

The service was very good, and Rome was a wonderful stay for us. The room was fine, though a little more space and better equipment would have helped. The building itself is beautiful and stylish, with a bus stop and train station right beside it. And the location is fantastic, just a few steps from St. Peter’s Square. 11/10 for that!

The only things that were okay were the location and the bathroom. I booked because of a special offer, but the difference between the pictures and what we found was so disappointing that I’d have preferred paying double for somewhere comfortable. The room was tiny and filthy, with crumbs and debris on the floor and a shocking smell. Condensation ran down the windows, and the beds felt like hard army cots. Breakfast was pre-packaged buns, a couple of jams, and some cream. New guests were often left outside ringing the bell for ages because nobody had told them how to check in. The photos are 100% photoshopped.

The host replies to messages, though they don't accept criticism, and the Vatican is nearby. Those are the only two positives. The rest was extremely disappointing. I'll leave you to judge it for yourselves.

They asked me twice to pay the city tax, even though it was already included in the Booking price. They only stopped after I showed them a screenshot of the payment. The apartment also fell far short of the Booking description: it was one tiny room of about 9-10 m, not 20 m with a bedroom and living room. The bathroom was very small, with mold spots on the ceiling, and its plastic-curtain door didn't close properly. The window looked straight onto the street, with garbage containers directly outside and car noise when it was open. The curtains were dirty, and the floor wasn't very clean either.
