The room worked really well for me as a solo traveler: enough room to put my bag down, hangers, a coffee machine, and air conditioning that worked well. It was clean when I arrived. I’d forgotten to read some arrival instructions, so check-in was a bit of a mess on my end. The person at reception patiently explained everything and gave clear directions for how things worked. I wish I remembered his name, but he was a Filipino guy. This was my first stop on my first ever trip to Rome, and I had a great stay. I can’t think of much to complain about. I’d highly recommend Velia Relais, especially if you’re traveling alone.

The main drawback was the elevator. It’s tiny, so it fits just one person with several bags, or only two people without luggage. We had a lot of bags and would stay here again with much less luggage. This guest house hotel has six rooms in an older but well-maintained building in the heart of Rome. There’s lots of shopping, restaurants, and sights nearby, including the Coloseum, Spanish Steps, and Trevia Fountain. The rooms are clean and modern, each with a private bathroom, bidet, and towel warmer. Our window looked onto a courtyard with what seemed to be residential buildings nearby. Since the building is hard to distinguish amid a busy district, you need a code or key code to get inside.

The staff were super friendly, the place was clean, and the rooms had been newly renovated. The elevator worked efficiently, and it’s a 5-minute walk to the metro. Highly recommended!

The hotel’s customer service was extremely disappointing. When there was a mistake with our reservation, they flatly refused to help and offered no alternatives, date changes, or reasonable solution. Their lack of care and flexibility was clear. If anything goes wrong, guests are left without support. There are many hotels in Rome with much better service. I don’t recommend it at all.
