Venustas Hotel

The hotel is in a clean, upscale apartment complex, and Vatican is just a five-minute walk away. Staff were really nice, breakfast was good, and the place was clean. The pizza place across from the hotel is amazing. Traffic can be noisy with the windows open in the daytime, but after 22.00 the streets were completely quiet. Worth the stay and the money.

It’s easy to get to lots of tourist sights from here, and there are stores nearby. There isn’t anyone around in the hotel itself, though. If you ask for something, they’ll help as best they can, but everything is handled through WhatsApp. We’d have preferred to have someone there at all times for questions or problems.

The staff were extremely nice, which made the stay much more pleasant. The room itself had several hygiene issues: mold in the minibar, noticeably yellowed sheets on my bed compared with the other one, and chipped, rotting bathroom furniture. There was no shower curtain or anything to stop the water from going everywhere. The street was also so noisy that it kept waking us through the night.

For the price, it’s a decent place, centrally located and within walking distance of the Vatican and other main sights. Service was good, and having a staffed reception around the clock was useful. Breakfast was basic but good. My room was small, the TV only had Italian channels, and there was no iron or ironing board to borrow.
