White Candia Guesthouse

The location near the Vatican and Metro was the only thing I liked. We booked through Booking.com thinking this was a hotel, but it felt more like a hostel or an Airbnb. The shared kitchen had the advertised coffee maker and other items. The room was like staying in your aunt’s spare bedroom while she rented out all the others. The bathroom was dated and needed work, with cracked tiles and a shower that didn’t drain properly. Management fixed the drainage when we pointed it out. At 2:30 AM, the fire alarm in the common area started beeping and continued all night. Management eventually replied to our texts but brushed it off, as if losing a night’s sleep didn’t matter. The furniture was all cheap IKEA stuff. Getting to the room meant going through four doors, using two keys and two coded locks. The coded doors failed to recognize the right code most of the time, so we had to enter it three or four times each time. It happened to the host too, so it wasn’t just me getting it wrong. The codes are loud, and the rooms have no soundproofing. We could hear fairly quiet conversations through the wall, plus traffic all night and drunk college students screaming. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
