White Gioberti Guesthouse

The room had a comfortable bed, smart TV with apps, mini fridge, good WiFi, and a functional bathroom. It was really clean, and the location was excellent, only two minutes on foot from the train station, handy for airport trips. We booked through Booking and had good contact with the host. We arranged things on WhatsApp the day before, met at the agreed time for check-in, and everything went smoothly. The rooms are on the building's second floor, shared with some other hotels and guest houses. We're glad we chose this place.

The location has two upsides: Roma terminal is a five-minute walk away, which made it easy to leave, and there was a booklet with suggestions for places to visit and eat. The host sent a WhatsApp message on arrival day with the code and a YouTube video showing how to use the door locks. I found it odd that we were told to contact him through Air BnB even though we booked on Expedia. That day I also learned that two rooms had been booked under my name. Expedia struggled to reach the hotel about the duplicate booking, and Luigi was unresponsive and uncooperative in sorting it out. The room wasn't peaceful. Smoke from the neighbor's room seeped in despite the no-smoking claim, and sounds carried through the thin walls from the hall and other rooms. We could also hear passing cars and recycling bins being emptied after midnight. Earplugs would help. The air conditioner started dripping onto the bed and floor after about 30 minutes. The mattress was hard, the two pillows thin, and the ironing board had no cover, so ironing on it left a honeycomb effect. The shower drained poorly and nearly flooded even after a short shower. It could take two hours or more before the next person could use it, and the head sprayed water in about five directions, everywhere but onto your body. There was also hair left on the shower tray. The water wasn't hot.

There was no shower gel, and the shower was in very poor condition. Noise from the poorly insulated windows woke us early in the morning.

The room looked like the photo, and the room service was much better than at other hotels at this price. Its location was very close to Termini station. Still, the room was mostly about appearances: thin walls, a tiny bathroom with old fixtures, and a dirty area around the hotel with homeless people nearby. The entrance lock was damaged, so anyone passing could get into the building, which made the area feel unsafe.
