Guerrini Hotel

The location was great, close to the beaches, and the rooms were clean and newly refurbished. Breakfast was Italian style, with sweet pastries from a local bakery. The suite was the letdown. It was perhaps 25 square metres including everything, so I'd call it a small family room rather than a suite. The narrow balcony faced a quiet stretch of the street and was pleasant to sit on.

We asked not to have room service, but they still came every day and left six fresh towels each time, which didn't feel eco-friendly. When we said we didn't need the service, the receptionist answered rather arrogantly that rooms had to be cleaned and there was no option to decline, as though our question was stupid. One of the two brothers at reception could be helpful, like when he pointed us to the best nearby beach, but at other times he was dismissive and arrogant. He reacted that way when we mentioned the windows wouldn't close properly. He also said there would be margarine at breakfast, but there wasn't any for three days. The service overall was quite disappointing.

Julio at reception was extremely nice and gave us useful tips for our stay in Castiglioncello. He even lent us a beach umbrella for the day at no cost. The views were beautiful, and the service was amazing. He told us his parents' bakery supplies the fresh breakfast pastries each morning, and they were delicious. We'd definitely come back, and recommend booking directly by phone or through the website.

We ended up needing a room spontaneously for a night in Castiglioncello. It was inexpensive, clean, and nicely decorated, and after a day in the sun we really appreciated the good shower and air conditioning. The staff were kind and helpful, and even put together a sweet takeaway breakfast since we had to leave very early. A comfortable stay.
