Dimora Varchi

Melissa has become a friend over the years, much more than a hostess. #DimoraVarchi has been our regular B&B in #Salento for years, and she’s a wonderful host. The three bedrooms are spacious, each with an en-suite bathroom and a large shower. There’s also a housekeeping service. Stairs lead up to the B&B’s living room, which has a sink and breakfast supplies that Lucia keeps stocked. It has a table, chairs, and refrigerator, and opens onto a beautiful terrace with tables and chairs, great for breakfast or an evening under the stars with a glass of local red wine. Rooms have small refrigerators, air conditioning, and modern furniture for clothes. There’s also a connecting balcony overlooking Via Roma. Nearby you’ll find a local butcher with excellent products, a bar and pastry shop, and an aperitif bar, along with a newspaper and tobacco shop, post office, and modern coin-operated laundry and dryer. Salve is a peaceful town just a few kilometers from beautiful seaside resorts, caves, and beaches. There’s plenty of local art and culture to explore, and Specchia is worth a visit too. From the information point in its main square, you can book a tour of underground olive oil mills. And be sure to try Martinucci ice cream, famous throughout Salento and beyond.

Salve has basic amenities but makes a strategic base for exploring the area. The apartment itself is simple and clean, with good value for money and the practical basics. The shared kitchen has cups, glasses, and cutlery. There’s a staircase to reach the apartment, so it isn’t suitable for people with limited mobility or elderly guests.

The owner was very helpful and offered suggestions on places to go and things to do. The property is lovely and well placed in Salve for visiting all the beaches of Salento. I’d happily stay again and recommend it.

Everything was just right. The room was spacious, with a kitchen, refrigerator, coffee machine, and more. Breakfast at the bar was top-notch, and there’s a supermarket 30 meters away and a bakery 50 meters away. The nearest beach is about six kilometers away, and the location is handy for the Maldives of Salento (Pesculose).
