Hotel Haiti

The room was a decent size, but the thin plastic sliding bathroom panel offered no privacy, and you could hear everything. Using the toilet felt like being in a public restroom stall, awkward and unacceptable for a couple or family. Breakfast was poor quality, with very little variety, and when something ran out they refused to refill it. The beach incident was the worst part. We sat under a Hotel Haiti umbrella on an almost empty beach while our 2.5-year-old played in the sand. About an hour later, a man who said he was the beach manager arrived yelling and making offensive gestures, talking to us as if we were criminals. People nearby laughed as he made a public scene. Only after humiliating us did he check a list at a desk and realize we were hotel guests all along. It was a disgusting show of arrogance and disrespect. We told the hotel, but got no apology or explanation. They just offered to reserve an umbrella for us the next day for 20€, even though their own website clearly says 7€. We had driven nine hours from Zurich and arrived tired but hopeful. That hope didn't last. I had to call more than five times before anyone answered, and nobody spoke English. If you don't speak Italian, it feels like a nightmare, with no effort or basic hospitality. They also say the parking is 10 minutes away, but it's more than 13 minutes on foot, with no clear directions or help. After a long trip, that's the last thing you need. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had, humiliating, unprofessional, and frustrating from start to finish. We chose the cheapest price and now understand why. It felt like a cheap setup for trapping budget travelers and treating them like garbage. Pay a little more somewhere else and protect your vacation, dignity, and sanity. Hotel Haiti is a disgrace. Never again.
