Hotel Torciano Vecchio Asilo

The restaurant meal was good, and we tried eight wines at the winery, but getting to that dinner was a mess. We were told to be ready at 5:55, waited half an hour, then couldn't reach anyone on the emergency number. With no phone service and nobody at the hotel, we had to call our travel agent in the US and ask them to contact the winery. The shuttle finally came about 20 minutes later. They gave us a complimentary bottle for forgetting us, then after dinner the wine sales pitch started. When my wife said we didn't drink much and wouldn't buy anything, they seemed disappointed and called a shuttle back to the empty hotel. We'd booked this three-day stop through our travel agent during a two-week trip to Italy. Our driver brought us from Florence. At check-in, the desk clerk said he was leaving at 4 and the hotel would close until he returned at 8 the next morning. He gave us access codes and emergency phone numbers, then showed us a small, dated room with a terrible odor. The TV didn't work, and he couldn't fix it. When my wife said she was uneasy being the only guest there without staff or services, he just said, “I only work here.” We asked where to get lunch. He said the winery that owns the hotel had a restaurant a short walk away and lent us umbrellas in the heavy rain. We walked about five minutes, couldn't find it, and went back. Only then did he say it was about a kilometer down the road and offer to call a shuttle. The winery owner drove us, but took us to a different restaurant they owned, giving us a town tour and talking up their wine on the way. Lunch was authentic Italian food and quite good. We were told another driver would collect us for dinner and a tasting. We checked out two days early and went on to Siena. You need a car here, and I'd have been better off staying somewhere else.

The view was breathtaking, and the room was lovely, with Rituals products provided. We also got a wine tasting at their winery, and breakfast was really good. We only stayed one night and wished we'd booked another. 💕

We came for the wine tasting and dinner package, and both the meal and wine were fantastic. The location is beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and the bath products were lovely. Breakfast was tasty and enough to keep us going through the day.

Alina made us a delicious breakfast and kept everything exceptionally clean, on a level I've rarely come across, like a five-star hotel in Milan. Elio was cheerful and very friendly, and helped with every question and request. The rooms were excellent. Such a dream of a hotel, highly recommended!
