Memory House

The setting at La Castellaccia has a remarkable history. The complex began as a medieval border fortress between Siena and Florence, and Memory House is a vacation rental there, recently and carefully renovated by Mannozzi Immobiliare. The house is tastefully furnished with some antiques, while keeping original details like beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. The apartment has plenty of comforts, along with a private outdoor spot furnished with a table and chairs for meals outside or a glass of wine. There’s a beautiful 14m x 7m swimming pool set among lawns, with magnificent views across the vineyards and olive groves in the valleys and hills around San Gimignano. From the property you can also see San Gimignano’s medieval towers and the valley along the Via Francigena, including the archaeological excavations of the Roman villa Aiano-Torraccia di Chiusi. Poggibonsi and Colle di Val d'Elsa are only ten minutes away by car. Siena and Florence take a little over half an hour via the Siena/Florence highway. It’s a wonderful, comfortable stay surrounded by nature, with lots of opportunities for excursions in one of the cradles of Italian culture.
