The palace is outside town, so shopping options are limited. We had a hire car and could drive into Lecce Centro in fifteen minutes. For a peaceful getaway, I'd highly recommend it. The owner and her husband gave us a warm welcome and made us feel at home. The palace had been a family home for over two hundred years and is now being renovated in stages. There was no building work going on during our stay. At the moment, only four rooms are available, so it's important to book early.

Our ground-floor apartment was very comfortable and had everything we needed to cook. Parking right outside the Palazzo was never a problem, and it was only a few minutes' drive into Lecce, where we had no trouble parking either. Great shops and restaurants are just a short walk away. We also saw the upstairs studios, which were lovely and looked comfortable. The location is great, and I absolutely recommend staying here.

We chose Palazzo de Carlo for a 7-day stay because we needed an apartment with a fully equipped kitchen. It had a spacious kitchen, living room, good bedroom, and a large, fully equipped bathroom. The building is being rebuilt, and the decoration is candid. Their hostess Sergio and Antonella work hard to make your stay as good as possible, and their attitude together with the place creates a very good atmosphere. My experience over the week was so positive. If you're visiting Lecce by car, I'd recommend a hotel in one of the small villages around it to avoid parking issues. Getting around also matters here. I wouldn't recommend Palazzo de Carlo if you're traveling by bus or train.

Francesca at breakfast was a ray of sunshine. Her food, smile, and music made the morning special, and the towels were especially soft and fragrant. This is a beautiful, peaceful place, steeped in history, with an almost solemn feel, old family photos, and the sound of its bells. We received a very warm welcome. A wonderful place to stay.
