Hotel Raffael

After the hotel's reply, I need to be clear: I described honestly what we paid for and experienced. I asked about paying to upgrade when I picked up the keys, but was told the hotel was full and an upgrade wasn't possible. Now the manager says it was possible. Who is being dishonest here? We wouldn't have left and paid for another place as well if this room had been livable. The smell was from long-standing damp, and if the room only smelled of us after we left, we must have improved it. The air conditioning was old and barely effective. Management can choose not to acknowledge these problems, but future guests will bear the consequences. The room was clean, but it was a budget room on the first floor with a patio facing the road, and it felt like a worn-out motel room from the 1970s. The damp or other bad odor made it almost impossible to breathe comfortably, and the weak AC did little to help. We booked somewhere else nearby straight away and left, wasting the money we'd spent here. The hotel didn't feel like a four-star property at all.

There's a little rocky stretch of shore just behind the hotel, and Spiaggia di Putzu Idu is an easy ten-minute walk through the village. Plenty of other lovely spots are a short drive away. Back at the hotel, we enjoyed the beautiful pool, tasty restaurant food, and a breakfast buffet with a good range of things. The staff were friendly, too.

Dinner was really good, probably the best around by some margin, though it may not be the cheapest. We stayed four nights as a couple and found the hotel lovely, with great, helpful staff. If we're in the area again, we'd happily stay here. Grazie.

The food was good, and everyone we met was open and friendly, ready to offer advice when we needed it. The receptionist really understands what hospitality should feel like. A great hotel all around.
