Breakfast was a disaster, with rude, unwelcoming service that made an already awful stay even worse. A loud air-conditioning generator right outside our window made it impossible to sleep or relax. When we complained, a woman from reception came up, acted arrogantly and dismissed us, saying she couldn’t hear anything. She made us feel like idiots, refused to help and left without apologizing. The parking situation was chaotic and cramped on a steep hill. You can hand over your car for them to park, but you can only retrieve it at specific times, which was absurdly inconvenient. The room also had a constant chemical fragrance coming from the air conditioning that gave us headaches. The TV didn’t work either, even after someone tried changing the batteries. For a hotel with this supposed standard, the Grand Hotel Sanremo was completely unacceptable. It failed on service, comfort and basic hospitality. Save your money and stay somewhere else. A truly infuriating experience.

Our room was on the third floor at the front, with a sea view, and we were lucky to get it. The view gets more beautiful on the higher floors, and the sunrise from the window was magnificent. I even captured one, so check the attached pictures. The room wasn’t very big, but it was comfortable, with clean walls, white furniture and a very large bathroom. Towels were changed every day, which amazed me. The hotel is very clean, 15 minutes from Sanremo city centre and five minutes from the beach. Breakfast was very good, with lots to choose from, good coffee, sweets and fruit. Wi-Fi is only available downstairs at reception. The staff were very friendly and quick to sort out any issue.

The breakfast was good, and the location worked well. It’s a nice, clean hotel with a reasonable price and rooms available in a variety of sizes. Just be aware it’s up on a hill, and you have to climb stairs to reach the entrance.

The hotel has a lovely quiet, vintage feel, and the staff were really pleasant. Room service was excellent, and everything we needed was nearby. My mother and I came for two nights to relax, and there were things we enjoyed, but a few problems got in the way. The beds were much too hard, and I could feel the springs in my back. There was a musty smell around the hotel, and I found a bug in the sheets. It didn't seem serious, but finding one in bed wasn't nice. Breakfast was disappointing, with little choice and food that wasn't very good. The coffee was okay. The spa seemed poorly managed when it got busy. And charging €16 per day for an open-air parking space felt outrageous after we'd already spent almost €450 for two nights. Still, it was a pleasant stay in many ways. Thanks, and see you soon 😉
