Hans and Massimo made us feel very welcome and were easy to communicate with. Between them they speak five languages. We had a spacious, clean room and a comfortable bed, and it stayed much cooler inside than outdoors despite the heat. Hans showed us around the farm, with its more than 20 cows, goats, chickens, and a cat, and explained how things work. It was fascinating. Massimo served a wonderful four-course dinner each evening. The Agriturismo sits in a nature reserve, with hikes of 10km or more right nearby. Sassoferrato is worth visiting by car, and Monte Cucco is also close for hiking and gravel or mountain biking. We’ll definitely return to Valdifiori!

The hosts are the best part. Massimo and Hans are open, lovely people who made us feel at home, relaxed, and well looked after throughout our vacation. The setting is peaceful, right in nature, and the service and gourmet food were five-star quality. Absolutely recommended!

We planned to stay two nights, then kept putting off our departure by a day until we’d spent five nights. Hans and Massimo made us feel special during a week we’ll never forget. Their agri tourismu sits alone on top of a hill, and the last kilometer of road is unpaved, so it feels a bit like an island. The valley view from the restaurant is breathtaking. There are four rooms with the necessary equipment, comfortable beds, and restful sleep. Massimo prepared wonderful Italian food, with passion, love, and generosity in every dish. Each night was a surprise. We were the only guests having dinner, served at 8:30 pm. The meal included antipasto, primo piatto such as risotto, pasta, or soup, secondo piatto, generally meat, dessert, water, coffee, and digestivo. Massimo is a gifted, experienced Italian chef who worked at luxurious palaces in France and Italy for the last 35 years. Most of the ingredients came from their farm or their neighbors. Hans is a veterinarian and shared his passion for the farm animals with us. We learned the basics of farm life and about the cows, goats, and chickens. Thank you, Hans, for showing us around. Several beautiful cities are about 45 minutes away by car, including Assisi, Gubbiu, Fabriano, Perugia, Massimo’s hometown, and Ancona. Each is worth a day’s visit. If Paradis existed, it might look like this.

The food and staff were excellent, and the location was wonderful. The road there is difficult, but the trip is worth it.
