Ranch Hotel

The owners made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and that was the best part of our holiday. The ranch is large and quiet, with a clean pool and plenty of room to lay out a towel. There are little villages with old buildings nearby, lots of MTB trails, and a sandy beach about five minutes away by car. We stayed for two weeks in May with our family. Our house had two floors, a kitchen, two bathrooms, a small terrace, and two extra balconies that we didn’t use. It was clean on arrival and had all the kitchen equipment we needed. When the coffee machine broke, they replaced it right away. The room design is unusual and may not suit everyone, but there’s clearly a lot of attention to detail. The only thing we didn’t like was the tiny terrace and its small table. Even with that, this was one of our best holidays.

The quiet setting and the family atmosphere made this a lovely base for exploring Tuscany. Alessandro and his family have run Alberguccio Ranch Hotel for over 40 years, now in its second generation, and everyone was warm and attentive. We’d happily return, whether for a few days or longer. We were shown around the property when we arrived, and there are several kinds of rooms. Breakfast was very good, with fresh coffee drinks and tea prepared each morning. There’s a pool and tennis court, while small towns and cities are nearby and the beach is around 15-20 minutes away. Alessandro was always ready with suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. A car or rental car is strongly recommended if you want to see it all.

We picked this place for a relaxing weekend with my partner and our dog, but the stay fell far short of what we expected. When we got back from dinner on the day we arrived, before we’d even spent a night there, we found cockroaches in the apartment, including near the kitchen and sleeping area. We searched for a solution without success, then had to leave at 1:30 a.m. and find somewhere else nearby. The owner was sorry the next day and didn’t charge us for the afternoon, but that didn’t make up for what happened. The area is peaceful and the pool is very nice, but cleanliness and management need more attention. Such a shame.

We spent a few days here on holiday, and the owners are what make the difference. The pool is really nice. Breakfast could use a new item each morning, or it gets repetitive.
