Hotel Cascina Galarej

We stayed at Cascina Galarej for our friends' wedding, and everything felt perfect. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and beautifully kept, with a charm that suited the setting. The meals were delicious, full of local flavors, and prepared and presented with care. The staff's warmth and attention to detail stood out throughout our stay. Everyone went out of their way to look after us. The surroundings were breathtaking, too. We couldn't have asked for more, 10/10, highly recommend!

What a lovely place, with gorgeous views from its hilltop setting among the lush green vineyards in Serralunga 'dAlba. The hotel was well kept, and the staff were among the most dedicated I've met. After a hike, my wife and I came back with our shoes covered in mud because the ground was wet. We asked where we could clean them, and a kind staff member took us to the basement toilet. I went back to our room to shower, leaving the shoes there. When I came back, she was already washing them for us. It was such a kind surprise. Thank you, Eleanora, we won't forget it. Eleanor also helped us sort out a booking for another room for our son after Booking.com had messed it up. That was a huge help. Great hotel and great staff all around!

The rooms and facilities are beautifully designed, and the food is fantastic. The staff made the weekend, though. They were so kind and friendly, and helped us arrange outings around the area, including truffle hunting and wine tastings. We came with friends for my birthday weekend and had a wonderful time in this magical spot. The views stretch across vineyards and little villages in a stunning amphitheatre.

The hotel has a lot going for it: it's modern, has stunning views, and sits in a great spot between Alba and Barolo. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and our kids loved spending the afternoons at the pool after busy mornings exploring the area. Even so, I wouldn't stay here again. We paid 800 euros a night for suite number 8, and it was nowhere near what we expected. There was a serious Asian bedbug (cimici asiatiche) problem. I killed more than 80 during our three-day stay. Reception knew it was ongoing and had an ozone machine, but it didn't make a significant difference. The wooden ceiling seemed to be where they came from. The hotel cited its eco-friendly approach to explain why it had done little about it, but we made it clear repeatedly that this was unacceptable. The suite's bed was also far too soft. My husband and I sank into the middle and ended up with considerable discomfort and back pain. At that price, we expected a comfortable, high-quality bed, but this wasn't one. We'd asked for an extra bed for our son on the same floor as us rather than upstairs. We were charged 80 euros a night, which was unexpected and excessive. On the phone, we'd been told it would be 8 euros a night. My husband joked that buying a bed might have cost less, and given how poor the extra bed was, it felt that way. Breakfast was another letdown. There was no fruit, just a limited choice of croissants, muffins, cookies, and cereals. The menu listed crepes, omelettes, scrambled eggs, and fried eggs, but the options were basic and lacked variety. The hotel's potential was overshadowed by all these problems, and our stay was disappointing.
