Hotel Loreley

The staff were brilliant, but the stay had some real problems. There was no hot water in the bathroom and the air conditioning didn’t work. The hotel is in an area only accessible by electric cars, and after getting to the pickup point we had to wait about 20 minutes for one. Breakfast starting at 8:00 was inconvenient for travellers hoping to head out and explore early.

We liked the nice pool and the decent breakfast included. The hotel is secluded and very quiet, and cars can’t drive on the road up to it, so electric golf carts take you along the narrow, winding route. There’s no restaurant on site. You can eat at the restaurants by the water or bring groceries and have an informal meal on your terrace, which suited us fine. The main attraction is the room terraces with their panoramic views. Our room itself was very basic and could use an upgrade.

The rooms could use a spruce-up, but the setting and staff more than made up for that. Rates are VERY inexpensive, especially with breakfast included. The shuttle is invaluable and fun, with a stunning backdrop. We had a great trip overall and would highly recommend it. The local restaurants serve amazing food, though they’re expensive and have limited vegetarian choices.

The breakfast view was beautiful, but that was about the only bright spot for us. This hotel looks like it hasn’t been updated in years. There was mould on the walls, ceilings, and air-conditioning units, the doors felt flimsy, and the air conditioning kept failing despite everyone complaining at reception. The mattresses were thin and soft, and my remote was covered in food. During the heatwave the pool was green with dirt on the tiles, so none of us could use it. The hotel was full, yet nobody went in, which says enough. Even the old parasol rope broke when I tried to open it. The taxi service wasn’t always available during the hours we were given, especially at night. My brother’s room had even more mould than mine. The website photos look like they’re from when the place first opened, so arriving was a shock. It doesn’t seem like money is going into upkeep. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially if you’re not fit, since you may have to walk up steep hills when a taxi isn’t available.
